Media Advisory: Coast Guard to sign letter of understanding with the Russian Federal Security Service

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The U.S. Coast Guard and the Northeast Border Directorate of the Russian Federal Security Service, will be signing letters of understanding towards continued communication and cooperation in combating illegal fishing in the Northern Pacific and the Bering Sea at the Hotel Captain Cook, Quadrant Room at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

A media availability with Rear Adm. Christopher Colvin, commander 17th Coast Guard District and Russian Lt. Gen. Raphael Alexeseevich Daerbaev, the chief of the Northeast Border Directorate of the Federal Security Service of Russia will be held after the signing of the letter of understanding.

The Coast Guard hosts an annual visit from the NBD to strengthen relations and discuss best practices for fisheries enforcement and search and rescue on the high seas.
