Photo Release: Coast Guard transports technicians to drifting cargo vessel

BERING SEA — The crew of an Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter prepares to deliver three steering system technicians to the 650-foot cargo vessel Morning Cedar 17 miles from Bobrof Island in the Aleutians and a Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane, also from Air Station Kodiak, overflies the vessel Dec. 8, 2011.
The cargo vessel suffered a steering casualty Dec. 5 while in transit from Canada to Japan with 23 crew aboard and a load of packaged timber and has been adrift since.

BERING SEA — The crew of an Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter delivers one of three steering system technicians to the 650-foot cargo vessel Morning Cedar 17 miles from Bobrof Island in the Aleutians Dec. 8, 2011.
The technicians will conduct an assessment of the damaged steering system and attempt to repair the Singapore-flagged vessel which has been drifting since Dec. 5.
