ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Capt. Jason Fosdick, Coast Guard Sector Anchorage commander, presents the Coast Guard Meritorious Public Service Award to Marina Haynes, Machelle Haynes and Mary McDaniel in recognition of their mother, Betty Haynes’ role in a 1950 rescue Dec. 15, 2011.  Haynes received the award posthumously for her role in saving Christensen Wetche, the only survivor of the fishing vessel Dixie, which sank in the waters near Pelican during a fall storm.
