Media Advisory
ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Coast Guard invites members of the media aboard a Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules aircraft to Nome for a press brief and a local tour to capture footage of the tanker vessel Renda delivering fuel to Nome.
Confirmed media will need to arrive at the Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson’s Boniface gate no later than 7:15 a.m. AKST. The Kodiak-based HC-130 Hercules airplane will depart at 8:45 a.m. to Nome and arrive at 10:30 a.m. for the briefing. Following the brief, interviews with the speakers and personnel directly engaged in the operation will be available.
The trip will include imagery opportunities on the ground in Nome and an over-flight of the two vessels before returning to Anchorage.
Due to extreme weather, all attending media are recommended to be prepared for sub-zero Arctic temperatures.
Editors Note: Media interested in traveling to Nome on the Coast Guard C-130 Tuesday must R.S.V.P. no later than 12 p.m. Monday with Petty Officer 1st Class David Mosley at (907) 271-2660. All members entering the base will need state identification and those driving will need a valid driver's license and proof of insurance and registration for their vehicle.
