JUNEAU, Alaska - The captain of the 580-foot bulk carrier vessel Lavieen Rose contacted the Coast Guard Communication Station in Kodiak, Alaska, requesting medical assistance for an injured Filipino crewman Monday at 8:54 p.m. The Coast Guard launched an MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter at 10 a.m. today to conduct a medical evacuation for an injured crewmember that is reported to have a broken right arm and possible spinal injuries.
