Update: Coast Guard Responds to Icy Mist Mayday

JUNEAU, Alaska - Coast Guard rescue crews continue attempts to rescue four fishermen on the Icy Mist hard aground in 80- to 90-mph winds and 15 foot swells after taking on water off Akutan Island around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

A Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Dutch Harbor arrived on scene about 6:40 a.m., but was forced to depart the scene due to the extreme weather conditions.

A C-130 Hercules and two MH-60 Jayhawks arrived on scene about 9:30 a.m.  All four personnel on board the Icy Mist have made it safetly to shore were they will be recovered by the MH-60 Jayhawk crew.

The Coast Guard Cutter Munro is monitoring the scene from about 4 miles offshore.  No injuries have been reported.
