Coast Guard Cutter Munro to hold change of command
*Editors Note: Media interested in attending should contact Ensign Michael Amersbach at 907-487-5166 or the Coast Guard District 17 Public Affairs staff at 907-487-5700.* KODIAK, Alaska – The Coast Guard Cutter Munro will hold a change of command ceremony Friday at 10 a.m. in the Northern Lights Recreational Facility an Integrated Support Command Kodiak facility on Coast Guard base Kodiak where Capt. Matthew T. Bell will relieve Capt. Craig B. Lloyd as commanding officer in a formal ceremony. Lloyd has commanded the Munro, the largest afloat unit in Kodiak since June 2006. Lloyd’s next assignment will be as the Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security Representative to U.S. Africa Command in Stuttgart, Germany. Bell is arriving from U.S. Naval Central Command, U.S. Fifth Fleet, Combined Maritime Forces as commodore, Patrol Forces Southwest Asia and Commander, Task Group 55.6 in Manama, Bahrain. His prior assignments include navigator of the cutter Rush in Alameda, Calif., combat information center officer of the cutter Sherman in Alameda, commanding officer of the cutter Point Divide in Newport Beach, Calif., operations officer of the Rush in Honolulu, executive officer of the cutter Eagle in New London, Conn. and the commanding officer of the cutter Alex Haley. Bell’s military decorations include two Meritorious Service Medals, four Coast Guard Commendation Medals, two Coast Guard Achievement Medals and multiple other personal and unit awards. Bell is married to the former Nancy Temple Randall of Denver. They have three sons, Richard, Matthew, and Nicolas.
