Coast Guard rescues Kodiak hiker from Spruce Island |

In this video released by the Coast Guard, a Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew rescue a hiker from Spruce Island Thursday, July 30, 2009. (U.S. Coast Guard video by Air Station Kodiak) Editors Note: Please click on image above to download high resolution video KODIAK, John Peterson, 18, resident of Kodiak was reported missing by a friend Wednesday night after he did not return from exploring the island and surrounding woods. The Coast Guard Rescue Coordination Center in Alaska State Troopers and local residents searched the area but were unsuccessful in locating Peterson. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak received a call for assistance and launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew to assist in the search. Peterson was located by the aircrew and hoisted at approximately 6:45 a.m. The helicopter crew reported Peterson was in good condition and delivered him safely to |
