Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley crew receives Arctic Service Medal

KODIAK, Alaska - Capt. Michael Inman, Coast Guard 17th District Response Chief, presents the Coast Guard Arctic Service Medal to the entire ship's crew on board the Alex Haley at the Coast Guard pier in Kodiak Friday, Nov. 20, 2009.

The crew received the medal for serving more than 21 days above the Arctic Circle on their most recent patrol. They are the only medium endurance cutter in the currently operational fleet to have earned the medal.
