The Arctic Domain Awareness flights provide the Coast Guard a better understanding of the Arctic by testing personnel and equipment capabilities, identifying challenges, surveying sea ice and monitoring vessel traffic. The flights provide visibility on seasonal mining operations and coastal erosion while supporting the Coast Guard’s Homeland Security mission, maritime domain awareness and science research.
