Coast Guard's top 5 videos of 2009 from Alaska

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The U.S. Coast Guard 17th Coast Guard District presents its top 5 video compilation for 2009, highlighting the year's most compelling cases from the work done every day by Guardians in Alaska.

These videos highlight rescues by the men and women of the Coast Guard during the performance of saving lives.  Since 1790, the Coast Guard has saved more than one million lives, and it continues to execute this mission with unwavering dedication in often-extreme conditions and locations.

Alaska’s top five videos include:

1. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak safely hoisted all five crewmen off the fishing vessel Mar-Gun from the shores of St. George Island at 4:32 a.m. March 5, 2009.  http://www.piersystem.com/go/doc/780/259637/

2. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak safely hoisted all four Icy Mist fishermen from the western shore of Akutan Island in winds up to 120 mph at approximately 11 a.m. Feb. 26, 2009.  http://www.piersystem.com/go/doc/780/257463/

3. A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew medevacs a 32-year-old man from the 165-foot Seattle based fishing vessel Bountiful with reported symptoms of pneumonia to the St. Paul clinic, Sept. 28, 2009.  http://www.piersystem.com/go/doc/780/334801/
