ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Rear Adm. Christopher Colvin, 17th Coast Guard District commander, presents the Meritorious Public Service Award to Michael Munger of the Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council for their outstanding dedication and support of the Coast Guard promoting environmentally safe marine transportation and oil facility operations at the councils quarterly meeting held in Anchorage, June 18, 2010.  The Cook Inlet RCAC has worked closely with the 17th Coast Guard District and the Coast Guard Sector Anchorage command in consistently providing their expertise and dedication to protect the Cook Inlet region and its citizens which was evident through the Council’s actions during Mount Redoubt’s threat to the Drift River Terminal in March 2009, the Seabulk Pride grounding in February 2006 and the sinking of the Monarch in January 2009.
