Cmdr. Doug Cameron will be assuming the role as commanding officer of Air Station Sitka in charge of approximately 120 Coast Guard members.

Capt. Walker has been the commanding officer of Air Station Sitka since June 2008 and is being relieved by Cmdr. Doug Cameron.

In 1989 Capt. Walker applied for and received a direct commission as a Coast Guard aviator after serving in the Army.

Cmdr. Cameron who's last assignment was executive officer of Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, went to Coast Guard officer candidate school after serving four years in the Marine Corps.

Air Station Sitka has three MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopters and averages 150 search and rescue cases a year covering 12,000 miles of coastline including all inland areas of southeast Alaska.
