Coast Guard rescue crews keep busy during weekend 

KODIAK, Alaska - A Coast Guard Auxiliary boat crew assisted two people and towed their boat, located between Ninilchik and Anchor Point, to Homer Harbor Sunday morning.

The Coast Guard received a call at 4:27 a.m. reporting that two people aboard a 20-foot boat ran out of fuel and were in danger of going aground.

A Coast Guard Auxiliary boat team diverted to the scene and assisted them before towing their boat to Homer Harbor.

Also, Sunday evening the Coast Guard cutter Mustang crew towed assisted three people and towed their vessel to Seward after they became in danger of grounding their boat at the mouth of Aialik Bay.

The Coast Guard received a call at 7:04 p.m. that two adults and a child aboard a disabled 23-foot boat almost grounded 500 feet from shore. Two good Samaritan boaters responded and prevented the boat from grounding.

Later Sunday night,  a Coast Guard helicopter crew airlifted a crewman from the fishing vessel Wayward Wind near Kayak Island.

The Coast Guard received a call at 11 p.m. from a crewmember aboard the Wayward Wind requesting a medical airlift for a 46-year-old man with an infected foot, high fever and diabetic reaction.

A helicopter crew from Cordova transited to the scene and delivered the fisher to awaiting emergency medical personnel in Cordova. They transported the man to the Cordova hospital.
