Search suspended for missing man KODIAK, Alaska - Coast Guard rescue crews suspended their search for a 35-year-old Kodiak man who presumably fell overboard from the fishing boat Grayling Saturday morning near Akutan Island. The Coast Guard received a call at 8:15 a.m. from Christian Trosvig reporting his twin brother Matthew had fallen overboard, wearing only a black t-shirt and sweatpants, between midnight and 5 a.m. The two brothers planned to go black bass fishing later that day. Christian began searching for his brother along the Akutan Island shoreline when it was light enough. The Coast Guard cutter Boutwell was in the area and launched an HH-65 helicopter to search for the missing man. Neither the Coast Guard helicopter crew nor Christian located any sign of Matthew. The Coast Guard ended search efforts after 24 hours due to the water temperature and the fact that Matthew was not wearing any survival gear. |
