Coast Guard medevacs man suffering chest pains in Akutan

JUNEAU, Alaska – A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew forward-deployed on the Coast Guard Cutter Munro conducted a non-maritime medevac of  a 40-year old man reportedly suffering choking sensations and chest pains at the Akutan clinic Thursday.

The Coast Guard 17th District command center received the initial call at approximately 2:17 p.m. from Health Force Partners, the contracted medical advisory team for Trident Seafood’s Corporation, reporting the man was suffering of chest pains.

The Coast Guard duty flight surgeon was consulted and recommended the patient be transported from Akutan to Cold Bay where commercial services would then be able to transport the patient to Anchorage.

The man was taken to Cold Bay where Life Flight commercial medical evacuation services were waiting to transport him to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage in stable condition.
