Coast Guard, Kodiak Island Search & Rescue find missing hunter

KODIAK, Alaska - A Coast Guard helicopter crew and a crew from Kodiak Island Search and Rescue (KISAR) found a hunter Sunday morning after he was separated from the rest of his party on Lone Island.

Brandon Thompson, 31-years old, was hunting on the island in Prince William Sound with three other men Saturday, all of whom are active duty Army personnel on Ft. Richardson. Thompson became separated from his party sometime before 5:30 p.m. Saturday. When his party was unable to locate him they contacted the Coast Guard in Valdez for help.

A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Kodiak was dispatched with a team and a search dog from KISAR. Thompson was located in good condition after a one hour search and returned the hunting party's boat.
