Search team locates missing Colorado man safe

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – A search team found the 50-year-old Colorado man reported missing Friday while hiking alone on Afognak Island, north of Kodiak.

Todd Miller was found safe at 4 p.m., Saturday while walking approximately three miles north of the Blue Fox Bay Lodge where he had been staying. Miller reportedly became disorientated while hiking Friday afternoon and continued walking until a search team made up of Miller’s friends and an Alaska State Trooper located him.

Coast Guard helicopter rescue crews conducted two searches Saturday and were in Kodiak preparing to transport a Kodiak Island Search and Rescue team to the scene when Miller was reported found.

Miller reportedly declined medical treatment and is at the lodge with his friends.
