Photo Release: Golden Seas reaches, anchors in Dutch Harbor

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The tug Tor Viking II safely tows the bulk carrier Golden Seas into Broad Bay near Dutch Harbor Dec. 7, 2010.

The vessels arrived in Broad Bay after transiting more than 500 miles along the Aleutian Islands through seas of more than 20 feet at times.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The bulk carrier Golden Seas is towed into anchoring position in Broad Bay near Dutch Harbor by the tug Tor Viking II Dec. 7, 2010.

The Tor Viking II rendezvoused with the Golden Seas and was able tow the ship more than 500 miles along the Aleutian Islands to safe harbor near Dutch Harbor.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The bulk carrier Golden Seas rests safely at anchor in Broad Bay near Dutch Harbor after being towed more than 500 miles along the Aleutian Islands by the tug Tor Viking II Dec. 7, 2010.

The Golden Seas experienced a turbo-charger failure Dec. 4, 2010 reducing the vessel’s power, setting it adrift in 30-foot seas towards the Aleutian Island of Atka.
