ANCHORAGE, Alaska - During a tactical demonstration at the Port of Anchorage the Coast Guard Marine Safety and Security Team simulated protection of three Canadian Navy Kingston Class vessels against a water based aggressor. The aggressor was simulated by another MSST vessel. The demonstration was for the benefit of congressional staffers from 14 different senate offices who paid a visit to the unit July 5. ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A demonstration of the Coast Guard Marine Safety and Security Team Anchorage's ability to defend a stationary target against a water based aggressor took place July 5 for the benefit of congressional staffers. With the staffers onboard the MSST used two of their defender class small boats to execute high speed turns and display tactics for fending of an incoming vessel at the Port of Anchorage. The MSST has several tactical coxswains who are specially trained to execute these maneuvers. A short brief outlining the MSST's other abilities was held just before the boat ride.
